Conservation

The conservation committee introduces members to regional conservation issues and educates the public on environmental concerns of clean water and air, setting aside land for ecological and recreational use, and clean highways. They work with schools, municipalities, and organizations in the area.

Recently, PGC worked with the Dover School system to produce a book about the Cocheco River and it’s evolution since the 1600s. They also produced a video about the history of Portsmouth and the Piscataqua River.  The culmination of the project was a boat trip for the students with environmental lessons. 

There is an opportunity to visit Washington, DC with the National Affairs and Legislation Committee.  After several days of listening to inspiring speakers, you meet with your representatives around current environmental legislation.
